This is scary. We're on the fast track to our daily lives and activities being constantly observed and monitored by one government agency or another.
Fear shuts down a part of our brain that controls rational thought.
Be not afraid of what the future holds because when you act today the future holds the consequences for you.
If you do something about these things today then your future will hold the results you can reasonably expect.
I can only suggest things that can be done, but they may not make sense to people that are entrenched in the system. I don't know your situation, but trust that the problem doesn't lie in the system itself, it lies in our perceived inability to separate our lives from it.
A short list of what has worked for me:
- coupons (only use cash when absolutely necessary)
- Swap meets/trading
- recycling - upcycling, downcycling, scrapping
- gardening (I have only produced seeds, but it's a few hundred dollars worth in the stores)
- Invest in tangible assets and human capital (My stocks are down, but my educational books collection is worth more now based on skills available to me. Also, I practice woodworking & carpentry as a novice, but I use high school math to make sturdy structures)
This is not a complete list. It is just what I use today to keep my head above water.
